Who We Are
Plato Island Resort & Marina is a family-owned and operated lakefront retreat located on the south shore of Quesnel Lake in the Cariboo region of British Columbia.
Owned and operated by Joe, Jean, and Ryan Webster, our resort is built on a simple goal. We want to provide a welcoming place where families, friends, and seasonal guests feel at home in a beautiful wilderness setting.
Many of our guests return year after year. Some have established seasonal retreats here. Others come to fish, explore, and experience the quiet beauty of this part of British Columbia for the first time.
We operate in a true wilderness setting, off the grid and powered by a generator, which helps keep the experience peaceful and authentic while still offering the comforts guests appreciate.
At Plato Island Resort, you are not just visiting.
You become part of our community.
The Story of Plato Island & Quesnel Lake
A Landscape Shaped by Ice
More than 10,000 years ago, retreating glaciers shaped the Cariboo region of British Columbia. As the ice receded, it carved a vast inland fjord that formed the deep, clear waters of what we now know as Quesnel Lake.
Today, the lake spans more than 260 square kilometres with approximately 800 kilometres of shoreline. Old-growth forests, pristine watersheds, and fossil-lined shores remain largely untouched.
The area still holds quiet reminders of its past, including ancient landscapes and the presence of early Indigenous communities who once lived along these shores.
Plato Island Resort was established on this remarkable south shoreline as a place where guests can experience this natural setting while respecting its beauty.
Still expansive. Still peaceful. Still waiting to be explored.
